  Awful. Husband went in with abdominal pain in lower right quadrant, exhibiting signs of either appendicitis, twisted tissue, or an abdominal infection. Doctor in urgent care was alright (though not great), didn't look into treatment with antibiotics (which can treat acute appendicitis with up to 80% success and no surgery needed), just contacted surgeon. Had an x-ray which made it clear that there was something wrong with his appendix. Surgeon ordered an unnecessary CT scan. When surgery was completed, we were informed that his appendix had not been inflamed or perforated, it has slightly curled though. The hospital would not work with us on a payment plan and had refused to accept any payments less than what they desired (which was more than our rent!), so we could not even send smaller payments in order to start chipping away at the bill. Needless to say, we have not doctored there since.

  When I gave birth to my son at Black River Memorial Hospital, the every single staff member that I met (before and after delivery) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have no complaints whatsoever!
